The rich "will not benefit from this plan at all," said Trump at the meeting on Wednesday. A consultant Trumps then explained to a report of the news website "Roll Call" that it was not about tax increases, but by deduction.
In the afternoon Trump met both parties to discuss the proposed tax reform. He had then invited the leader of Democrats in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, as well as Democratic opposition leader Nancy Pelosi, to dinner at the White House. Both sides described the conversation as productive. Trump had already been together last week with Schumer and Pelosi to settle the household dispute temporarily.
Paul Ryan, the spokesman for the House of Representatives, announced that a first draft tax reform should be presented in the week of September 25th. The reform is regarded as a central choice of election. Trump recently reiterated that he wanted to reduce corporate taxes to 15 percent. This step is imperative to restore the competitiveness of the US economy. Domestic companies in particular are hoping for clear relief from the reform.
