Thousands of children affected: Trump kicks "Dreamer" program

Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 | World News

US President Donald Trump kills a program of his predecessor, Barack Obama, which protects hundreds of thousands of sons and daughters of illegal immigrants from deportation. Trump left it on Tuesday to his Justice Minister Jeff Sessions to announce the decision. The program was unconstitutional, Sessions said. The law must be maintained and respected.

The program is to be phased out step by step. In the morning, Trump had invited the Congress via Twitter to do the work on the program in question.

It is about 800,000 people, many of whom were brought to the United States by their parents during childhood. Obama had protected these so-called "Dreamers" in 2012 with a decree. Trumps White House argues now that the President had exceeded his competencies. Sessions said the "Dreamers" had taken the Americans' work away.

Measures against immigrants are very good in Trumps trailers. In the rest of the country and also among the leaders of the Republicans and the economy, Trumps decision is extremely unpopular. It will provoke serious protests, and great anxiety among those affected.
