Jonathan Rea instead of Andrea Iannone at Suzuki: Just rumors?

(cafetheology.org) – Suzuki driver Andrea Iannone is undoubtedly one of the biggest disappointments of the current MotoGP season. The Italian, who gave Ducati the first victory after five league years in 2016, has since driven to Suzuki and after 13 of 18 races has just 33 points in his account: 16th place in the driver's evaluation. This has already caused many rumors that question Iannine's future at Suzuki. The latest rumor comes from Great Britain. The colleagues of 'MCN' claim that Superbike World Champion Jonathan Rea could take over the place from Iannone, although both drivers have valid contracts for 2018. From the Dorna point of view, this transfer would be a win-win situation. Rea's dominance in the WSBK would come to an end. The races would be more exciting. In addition, Suzuki would have the chance to come out of the low. But Suzuki-Teammanager Davide Brivio does not want to know anything about the rumors. The Italian makes it clear against GPOne.com that he plans with Iannone in 2018. A change from Rea to Suzuki he classifies as a joke. "This is probably the hope of British fans Rea would like to see in the MotoGP," commented Brivio. "We never mentioned that we would break the contract with Andrea, I do not know why it should change, it's unthinkable." Brivio assumes that Iannone will soon be able to overcome his form. "I think we have not been able to see the real potential of Andrea and Suzuki so far, and we have to make sure that the connection works better because Iannone is a very talented driver, and the motorcycle has its strengths," emphasizes the Suzuki manager.
