SPD only at 20 percent

Friday, September 15th, 2017 | World News

According to the latest Infratest survey, the SPD is only 20 percent – just eight and a half points ahead of the AfD – almost a week and a half before the Bundestag election.

This is the weakest figure for the SPD since January. The Union remains unchanged at 37 percent. The AfD was able to gain a percentage point in the survey compared with the last week and thus stands at 12 percent. According to the poll, the FDP is also advancing 0.5 points ahead, with 9.5 percent ranking fourth.

This week the left has lost: with one percent less they are 9 percent. The Greens have lost 0.5 percentage points and stand at 7.5 per cent.

How is the Chancellor's question?
Regarding the question of which chancellor is desired, Angela Merkel is still ahead with 51 per cent despite losses of 3 per cent. Martin Schulz loses one percentage point of approval and is clearly behind Merkel at 25 percent.

cafetheology.org compiles the most important polls before the election on a page. Here you can see who is in the current trends where the Germans as a German chancellor would be directly elected and which coalitions would be possible.

 Who is in the polls?

In the "percentage distribution of votes" – also called "Sunday question" – you will learn how the voters would vote if the next Sunday elections were. The most important institutes in Germany are represented by Allensbach, Emnid, Forsa, Forschungsgruppe Wahlen, Infratest dimap and INSA. If you click the red arrow next to the current survey, a drop-down list opens where you can select other surveys. Here you can read more about how opinion researchers work.

Who would the Germans choose directly as Chancellor?

In Germany, the Chancellor or the Chancellor can not be elected directly, but the "direct election question" provides information on the popularity of a politician with the population. Again, you can switch between the results of the different surveys using the red arrow.

What coalitions are possible?

The "Coalition Calculator" tells you which government constellations are possible based on the current surveys. Use the red arrow to return to the calculations of the various opinion research institutes.
