"Some EU countries are too hot in the kitchen"

Jean-Claude Juncker is heavily criticized for his plan to introduce the euro in all EU countries. The President of the European Commission is right, but he is still playing back something.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has raised serious concerns with his call for the expansion of the euro zone. Federal Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schäuble (CDU) and head of the SPD, Martin Schulz, insisted on compliance with the requirements for EU states that would adopt the euro.

This was not achieved by some countries in 15 years, Schulz said on Thursday. Juncker, however, defended his proposal. Of course, countries would have to meet the conditions for the euro, but they should get help on their way there.

On Wednesday, Juncker expressed a keynote speech on the situation of the European Union to involve all EU countries in the Eurozone and also in the Schengen area without border controls. This is intended to strengthen the unity of the community.

There were two reasons for criticism: On the one hand, non-euro countries such as Bulgaria and Romania are currently much weaker than in Germany or France. On the other hand, some countries do not want the euro.

"Juncker wants to force us once again"
So the Czech opposition council Andrej Babis told the newspaper "Lidove noviny": "Mr. Juncker wants us to once again impose something on which we should decide – and what the voters will decide." Babis is a poll for the parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic at the end of October.

SPD chancellor candidate Schulz admonished realism. Juncker had only said what was in the EU treaties. "We know on the other hand that accession to the euro is only possible if the criteria of accession – which are very hard – are fulfilled," said Schulz "NDR Info". "And I do not see the criteria in the next ten to fifteen years in a number of countries." Juncker had suggested his proposals for the time until 2025.

"Too hot in the euro kitchen"
Schäuble also said in the "ARD": "It is clear that we have had the experience that countries have to be able to economically manage even with a stable, hard currency, which they can no longer decide by devaluation . "

Juncker appeased in a Youtube interview. "I do not intend to force countries into the euro that can not be in the euro or not in the euro." Conditions of accession should be fulfilled. Moreover, the economy must be set up in such a way that it can overcome the euro shock. For the countries of the Monetary Union are subject to strict rules. "And some countries are still too hot in the euro kitchen," said Juncker.

However, he maintained that all EU countries should have the opportunity to introduce the euro, and whoever does not already have it should receive aid. Juncker had announced a new financial pot on Wednesday. On Youtube, he also spoke of technical assistance.
