Smartphone: Yotaphone 3 comes with large e-paper display

The Russian manufacturer Yota Devices has presented the Yotaphone 3. Like its predecessors, the smartphone is characterized by the use of two displays: in addition to a LC display on the front, the Yotaphone 3 also has an e-paper screen on the back, which can be controlled via touch inputs.

The front display is a Samsung Super-Amoled panel, which is 5.5 inches in size. Yota Devices does not mention any dissolution in the announcement to the device in the Russian social network VKontakte; The Verge writes that the display should have full-HD resolution.
E-paper display with touch function
The backside e-paper screen is 5.2 inches noticeably larger than that of its predecessor, which measures 4.7 inches in the diagonal. Accordingly, the new Yotaphone 3 is even better suited for e-paper applications such as e-readers.
Users can also use the additional screen of the Yotaphone for other applications. Thus, for example, it is possible to display messages, the weather report or system notifications. Thanks to the touch function, you can also tap on the ePaper screen, although the Yotaphone 2 was rather tedious.
Mid-class processor and 4 GB of RAM
Inside the Yotaphone 3, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625, a mid-class processor with eight A53 cores and a maximum clock rate of 2 GHz. The memory is 4 GB, the built-in flash memory has 64 or 128 GB depending on the version. The smartphone is delivered with Android 7.

The main camera has 12 megapixels, the camera on the front 13 megapixels. The not easily replaceable battery has a nominal charge of 3,300 mAh, at the run time the manufacturer does not specify. The Yotaphone 3 can record two SIM cards simultaneously.
Development with China
Yota Devices has partnered with the Chinese company Baoli in developing the Yotaphone 3. Accordingly, the smartphone will also first appear in China, then in Russia and other markets – whether Germany is under it, is not yet known. The pre-order will start on September 5, 2017 via the online retailer JD.com, the smartphone will be delivered from the 18th of September.
Yota Devices has not yet announced a price; The Verge speaks of 4,000 yuan, converted just over 500 euros. Heise.de counts as prices converted 310 euros for the 64-Gbyte model and 400 euros for the version with 128 Gbyte memory.
