Prosecution for alleged infidelity against Angela Merkel

Saturday, September 9th, 2017 | World News

The prosecutor's office in Berlin is investigating Angela Merkel for alleged infidelity. The "Spiegel" reports that a Berlin lawyer accused Chancellor and CDU of paying too little for flights to election campaigns. The costs of the flights with Bundeswehr and police helicopters are only a fraction of the CDU's payments.

According to the news magazine, Angela Merkel pays 500 euros per flight distance for herself and her employees when she uses the helicopters or Lear jets of the German Armed Forces for whale-fighting or party machines. However, the actual cost of a flight hour would be 18,000 to 30,000 euros, depending on whether it is a flight with a helicopter or a jet.

The CDU states that the party adheres to the rules in force. Chancellor Angela Merkel also told the Spiegel that she adhered to the rules that had already used her predecessors. As chancellor, she was "always on duty" and had to be able to fly quickly back to Berlin in emergencies.
