Only one in three Americans satisfied with Donald Trump

Saturday, August 26th, 2017 | World News

If it were his own rules, Donald Trump would have to fire himself. His popularity as a US president remains at a historic low. Only one in three is satisfied with it.

Trump is still in the seventh month of his term in a questionnaire, which has not yet been registered for a president in the first year of the year in the history of US opinion research. Only 34 percent of Gallup respondents said they are satisfied with Trumps work at the White House.

Trump has assumed his office as the most unpopular president and in the following seven months he has more often been under the 40 per cent mark of approval than any other president in the first year before him. Until now established rules turned on the head: That the Americans give their new president a trust advance. "Most presidents start with a honeymoon and then go down," says Gallup boss Frank Newport. "Trump had no honeymoon."

Gallup regularly produces surveys on the popularity of the president. One goes over a week, the other responds with a three-day period even more quickly to current events. In the most recent weekly survey, 37 per cent rated Trump positively, in the shorter 34 per cent. His predecessor Barack Obama never slumped under 40 percent in the weekly survey. In the election campaign, Trump had enthusiastically read his followers to his followers. He has not done this since he took office.
