The "authoritative side" must "avoid words and actions that exacerbate tensions on the Korean peninsula," according to the state television in a telephone call with Trump on Saturday. The conflict over the Atrocrogram of North Korea must be resolved peacefully through talks. Trump had previously refereed in a verbal strike exchange with the leadership in Pyongyang and declared via Twitter that military solutions were fully prepared, "loaded and unlocked".
It is both in the interests of China and the US that the peace on the Korean peninsula is preserved and this one area free of nuclear weapons, said Xi according to Chinese state TV. The Presidential Office in Washington said that Trump and Xi had agreed that North Korea would have to cease its "provocative and escalating behavior". The relationship between Xi and Trump is "extremely tight and hopefully will lead to a peaceful solution to the North Korean problem." Both agreed that the recent UN Security Council resolution was an important step towards peace and stability on the peninsula. China is one of the few and most important supporters of North Korea.
Trump and North Korea had repeatedly overlaid with threats in recent days. This fueled worries around the world that the conflict could escalate militarily. The stock exchanges recorded heavy losses. By Friday, they lost more than one trillion dollars in value worldwide. Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called the election of Washington and Pyongyang exaggerated. He announced a Russian-Chinese mediation attempt. Chancellor Angela Merkel warned that the escalation of language would not contribute to a solution to the conflict. Nor does she see any military solution. Important is the international vote, especially between the USA and China, but also with South Korea and Japan. Trump said little later, "Let them speak for Germany."
"He will quickly regret it"
His threats against North Korea reaffirmed the US President before reporters at his golf property in the state of New Jersey, where he is currently vacationing. "I hope they fully understand the weight of my words, and what I said, I meant that." Responding to his wording, "Loaded and Loaded," Trump said, "These words are very, very easy to understand." The expression became famous in American language use by the film "You Were Our Comrade" (1949) with John Wayne, who plays in the Second World War. He describes preparations for firing a weapon.
Trump said the situation was very dangerous. If North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un "does anything with a view of Guam or any other place, the American territory or an American ally, he will truly regret it – and he will soon regret it." Trump also said, "Nobody loves a peaceful solution more than President Trump."
North Korea has announced that by mid-August, a deployment plan should be launched to fire four medium-range missiles over Japan across Guam. Around 163,000 people live on the Pacific island. The US has an air force base there, a naval base with submarines, a unit of the coast guard, and some 6,000 military personnel. In a telephone conversation with Guam's governor Eddie Baza Calvo, Trump said the US was "1000 per cent" at the side of the island's inhabitants. "You are safe."
