Microsoft: Hungry dinos, chic consoles and the thing with Age 4

Monday, August 21st, 2017 | Gadgets

Not a big press conference as on the E3, but an easily kept and streamed show with new announcements – so Microsoft has just before the Gamescom 2017 presented on its Videoportal Mixer.com. In addition to new trailers from well-known titles like Assassin's Creed Origins, there was also a small series of real premieres, such as Jurassic World Evolution, produced by the British development studio Frontier Developments (Elite Dangerous).

In Jurassic World Evolution players can build their own leisure park. It is clear that there are more problems than broken toilets: namely, hungry dinosaurs, who break out and chase the visitors. Too many details on the title are not yet available. It will be released in summer 2018 for Xbox One, Windows-PC and Playstation 4 on the market.

With the moderators and guests in the studio, another game was even more present, but presumably only presented on the evening of August 21, 2017 – Age of Empires 4. For some days, there are corresponding rumors, which are now heated by Microsoft. Anything but the presentation of a fourth part of the real-time strategy game classic is hardly imaginable.
A big topic in the studio was also the Xbox One X. One or the other viewer may be annoying the often repeated saying of the "most powerful console of all time" – but we have to wait until 9th November 2017, then is Ding Finally available. By the way, there are also about 100 new and already available longer games available, which are updated by the possibility to use on the console the 4K resolution and HDR. Among other things, there is the Halo 5, Quantum Break and Fifa 18.

In addition, Microsoft has introduced a special edition of the X, which looks slightly different than the standard version and the Project Scorpio is called – thus, as the long-used working name of the X.

Even more chic is a special edition of the Xbox One S: The Minecraft edition is coming to the market in early October 2017 and is strikingly beautifully designed. The case reminds of the blocks of the game and also the controller is held in beautiful green and brown tones. Alternatively a pink-colored gamepad should be available – in reference to the pigs. As a special extra, there are thin redstone strands on the console housing, which should actually light up.
The biggest issue was also Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, which now has a publisher on the Xbox One – namely, Microsoft. For developer Bluehole, this means primarily financial and technical support, for Microsoft a really powerful title for his console, which at least not initially also on the Playstation 4 appears. The preview phase on the Xbox is scheduled to start at the end of 2017, the official release scheduled for early 2018.

In addition, there were a number of other announcements, such as a definitive edition of Recore, as well as a preview of Surviving Mars by Paradox Interactive. Relatively detailed were the Indiegames Cuphead (publication: end of September 2017) and State of Decay 2 (2018) presented. On 26 September 2017 the Awakening expansion for Halo Wars 2 will be released. It contains a new banished campaign, more cards and leaders as well as an additional multiplayer mode called Terminus Firefight.
