(cafetheology.org) – Valentino Rossi will also be missing at the Grand Prix of Aragon on September 24th. As Yamaha announced, Michael van der Mark will take the place of the superstar and give his MotoGP debut. The race is still early for Rossi. He will cure his leg fracture and do physiotherapy in the coming weeks. Rossi will try his next comeback start at the Japan Grand Prix (15 October). Last weekend, Yamaha teammanager Jar Jarvis noted that four substitute drivers are eligible. Beside the two test drivers Katsuyuki Nakasuga and Kohta Nozane were the two superbike pilots Alex Lowes and van der Mark. Lowes already represented the then injured Bradley Smith at Tech-3-Yamaha in the previous year at three races. Brother Sam, however, said in Misano that Alex will not drive in any case. Finally, decided for Superbike pilot van der Mark. "For the Grand Prix of Aragon, we have to use two drivers," Jarvis explains. "It is practically impossible for Valentino to be fit for Aragon, and Yamaha has been looking for a suitable rider from his own pool, and we have decided that Michael van der Mark should get the chance "The Dutchman won this year for Yamaha, together with Alex Lowes and Nakasuga, the important 8-hours -running of Suzuka. After two successes with Honda (2013, 2014) it was van der Marks third triumph with this long-distance classic. Since this year, he has been racing the new Yamaha R1 for the factory-supported Crescent team in the Superbike World Championship. At the start of the season, van der Mark hoped to get a MotoGP opportunity over this combination. Difficult task: No test before MotoGP debut "I am very excited that I get the opportunity to drive the Yamaha M1 in Aragon" van der Mark comments on the call of his life. "I've never driven a MotoGP bike before, so it's going to be a whole new experience for me, it's going to be very exciting to see how it feels to drive such a machine, I know it will not be easy "I am sure that it will be an instructive experience for me." At the age of 24 van der Mark is now making his MotoGP debut. At the beginning of his career, he completed several races in the eighth grade. In 2011, he played his only Moto2 race in Assen. Since 2013, van der Mark has been first and foremost in the paddock of the Superbike World Championship. The success of the Supersport World Cup 2014 has so far been its greatest success. After two years at Ten-Kate-Honda he finally switched to Yamaha. Van der Mark is still waiting for his first victory in the Superbike World Championship. MotoGP debut will not be easy because van der Mark has never tested the MotoGP bike yet. He does not know the M1, tires or electronics. The MotorLand Aragon is known to him from the Superbike World Championship. "We will support him as much as possible and wish him all the best for this exciting opportunity," says Jarvis, and also thinks about Rossi. "We hope Valentino will recover quickly and we'll see him on his M1 as soon as possible."
