L.A. Noire: Rockstar Games solves VR cases in Hollywood

Thursday, September 7th, 2017 | Gadgets

The developer studio Rockstar Games wants to bring on 14 November 2017 a graphically revised version of the originally released Adventurer L.A. Noire on the market. On the Xbox One and the PS4 the new edition offers improved light effects, more beautiful clouds over the sky of Los Angeles, new camera angles in intermediate sequences and high-resolution textures. On the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X, Rockstar also promises 4K resolutions.

A socket for the Nintendo Switch gets support for platform-specific functions, such as motion control via the Joy-Con input devices and touche input on the portable screen, as well as a new camera setting, with the control via a shoulder camera. According to the Rockstar, all three versions are, in addition to the original, all extensions and additional contents.
Owners of a HTC Vive can also play seven of the criminal cases from LA Noire in a newly developed virtual reality mode – according to the company with everything, which belongs to what, besides interrogations and the screening of crime scenes also mean the one or the other shooting would. However, this is not yet confirmed. There is no information about the price of the four versions.
In L.A. Noire the player as a detective Cole Phelps in the Los Angeles of the 50's kills murder and other criminal cases. The adventure was produced by the Australian development studio Bondi together with Rockstar Games. A special feature is that the player has to worry about the facial expressions of the suspects to find out whether they are telling the truth or dizzy. There are occasional chases with oldtimers in the city, which is however substantially smaller than in GTA 5.

In the test, Golem.de had criticized at the time that the action deposits "too rare and too simple", the "adventure elements for puzzle experts are also hardly worth mentioning". The game was relatively successful for an adventure, but Bondi had to close shortly after the release.

A follow-up project titled Whore of the Orient did not find any publisher – among other things probably because the management of Bondi had a bad reputation in terms of organization and staff management.
