Interpol is no longer looking for Dogan Akhanli

Friday, August 25th, 2017 | World News

Interpol, the international police officer, has lifted the search for the German writer Dogan Akhanli. Turkey used Interpol to arrest Cologne in Spain.

"We are delighted that Interpol has erased the 'red notice' against Doghan Akhanli," the Foreign Ministry said on Friday. Akhanli had been arrested on holiday in Spain on the weekend of a Turkish arrest warrant but was later released under conditions. The German was not allowed to leave Spain.

In his works he is, among other things, committed to commemorating and dealing with the genocide of the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire.
