Horst Seehofer considers deportations to be "almost impossible"

Sunday, August 13th, 2017 | World News

Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) warns against excessive expectations of the deportation of rejected asylum seekers. It is extremely difficult and impossible to identify people in the country.

"The question of deportation is a great illusion in Germany." There were complaints in court against the deportations. In most cases, papers were missing, and the country of origin did not take people back without papers. In other cases, health certificates are available, said Seehofer. "Still others have roots here and a patron saint who stands up for their fate in the country, which is the reality of the Federal Republic of 2017."

In the future, therefore, it would be up to the EU's external borders to decide who should enter at all. "This is much more Christian and humane than traveling people around Europe and telling them in the end that you should not stay," said the CSU chairman.
