Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 | World News

The highest sandcastle in the world measures 16.68 meters, consists of 3500 tons of sand and is located in Duisburg.

Sand artists from ten nations have built the world's highest sand castle within three and a half weeks in Duisburg. On Friday, a representative of the company "Guinness World Records" specialized in quaint records attested to the building the record height of 16.68 meters. The Sandburg, which had hitherto been the highest, had been erected on the Indian east coast only in the spring. It measured 14.84 meters.

The elaborately decorated castle in Duisburg had a local travel organizer built. The castle is to remain at least until September 24th. The construction site had been visited by some 180,000 people so far, the company told Schauinsland Reisen.
