Friday, September 1st, 2017 | World News

Around two-thirds of the mayors in Germany see a survey according to the financial situation of their municipality or city pessimistic. 64 per cent of the 1500 interviewees surveyed estimated the situation "less good" or "bad" as the Forsa survey commissioned by the "municipal" magazine of the German Association of Cities and Towns concluded.

In the south comparable positive
Only in the south is the mood rather positive: well every second mayor (53 percent) in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg estimates the situation "good" or "very good". In the rest of Germany, this was just about every fourth.

Lack of financial resources is a problem
A large share of money was a major obstacle to investment. The mayor of Großstadt has also increasingly struggled with the resistance of citizens' initiatives; in small towns and cities, this is less of a concern as an investment obstacle. From the perspective of the mayor is missing mainly for the expansion of child care as well as roads and bridges money.
