Florida calls for millions to flee

Saturday, September 9th, 2017 | World News

Before the advent of monster hurricane "Irma" in Florida, the US authorities have now called 5.6 million people to evacuate. This corresponds to more than a quarter of the total population of the state. The US hurricane center (NHC) once again raised the hurricane to the top five.

Friday night was the last good way to escape from the coastal areas, warned Florida's governor Rick Scott. Anyone who does not have to leave the extremely dangerous storm at their own risk. Even more drastically, NHC boss Dennis Feltgen expressed himself: "This is a storm that will kill you if you do not get out of the way." In the night to Sunday, "Irma" is to reach the American mainland.

On the expressways to the north, the car rushed to the car. People were trying to stay with relatives or hotels in Atlanta, Montgomery and Nashville. However, the authorities opened hundreds of refugees for persistent people.

The US government sent several warships off the coast of Florida to help cope with the effects of the cyclone. On the Georgia coast, the authorities also called for 540,000 people to leave their homes.

Six meters high waves off coast of Cuba
With wind speeds of 260 kilometers per hour, "Irma" reached the Cuban Camagüey archipelago late Friday and was still 485 kilometers from Miami. According to reports from the state television, up to six meters high waves whipped against the coast.

Land also reached "Katia" on the Mexican coast. Hurricane "Jose", almost a storm of the category five, raged further in the Caribbean.

Scientists reported Friday the highest hurricane activity in the Atlantic Ocean since the start of weather records. The value of so-called hurricane activity ACE was located at 16, said whirlwind expert Phil Klotzbach of the University of Colorado. The previous record in the region came from September 11, 1961, when the daily value was 14.3.   22 Death sacrifice by "Irma"
In the Caribbean, "Irma" cost at least 22 people. Thousands were homeless after the destruction of dwelling-houses. Turks and Caicos Islands' Infrastructure Minister, Gold Ray Ewing, was expecting losses of at least $ 500 million.

In Antigua and Barbuda, police representatives said there was no need for a great science to recognize that there would be further damage. Many residents who were already injured by "Irma" fled on ferries and fishing boats for fear of the approaching "Jose". For Florida, the hurricane center warned NHCs, however, residents should not be misled by apparent movements of the hurricane away from the east coast. The eye of the hurricane is very large and will cover the entire Florida peninsula. "Everyone will feel it," said NHC boss Feltgen.
