Fighters of the IS hang in the desert

Friday, September 8th, 2017 | World News

In the Syrian desert, the terrorist Islamic state (IS) has been hosting for more than a week with family members. Jets of the US-led international coalition had stopped their convoy with an attack, since then it has stranded in the center-Syrian province of Homs.

At the moment there are eleven buses there, said Ryan Dillon, the spokesman for the anti-IS coalition, on Thursday. It was known that there were also family members of the terrorists. To protect them, the alliance does not attack the buses directly. However, IS-fighters were targeted when they removed from the vehicles. In total, according to the spokesman, at least 85 terrorists were killed, since the convoy was stopped.

On August 28, more than 400 IS fighters were deployed in the border area between Syria and Lebanon. Their goal was the terrorist-controlled east of Syria, bordering on Iraq. The background was an agreement between the IS and the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah. The Syrian government gave the fighters free escort through areas controlled by them. The anti-IS coalition bombed a road to stop the buses from continuing. Some of the fighters escaped.

Dillon said they were in contact with the Russian military to clarify what happened with the convoy. The coalition allowed supplies of water and food to the fighters and their families by the Syrian government.
