Facebook daughter: WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton goes

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017 | Gadgets

One of the two WhatsApp co-founders, Brian Acton, leaves the short message service. He wanted to establish a foundation at the interface between charity, technology and communication, Acton explained in his Facebook profile on the night of Wednesday.

Acton and company manager Jan Koum had founded WhatsApp about eight years ago. Acton became technology leader. The acquisition of WhatsApp in 2014 for approximately 22 billion dollars made both multimillionaires. Facebook is now working hard to earn money with WhatsApp. For example, WhatsApp could demand money from companies when they use the service to communicate with their customers. Koum had always reaffirmed that advertising as the usual business model for Facebook services did not fit WhatsApp. dpa
