Ex-Agent wants to buy Twitter to block Trump

Thursday, August 24th, 2017 | World News

A former CIA secretary wants to buy Twitter and ban US President Donald Trump from the short news service. Valerie Plame Wilson has launched a crowdfunding campaign to collect money and buy enough Twitter shares to take control of the company.

At the beginning of the campaign last week, Wilson tweaked: "If boards of @Twitter Trumps do not stop violence and hatred, then it's in our hands." On the Crowdfunding platform GoFundMe was to read about the campaign, Trumps Tweets harmed the country and put people at risk. Twitter did not comment on the project at first.

The GoFundMe site has a target of one billion dollars to be collected. On Wednesday afternoon she had collected less than 6000 dollars. The low participation shows that the population trumps use of Twitter, said the White House spokeswoman, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, in a message.

The action is a "ludicrous attempt" to limit the president's rights to the first article of the US Constitution, which includes freedom of expression. This is a clear expression of hatred and intolerance, the statement said.

Wilson's identity as a CIA agent had been made public by a government employee in 2003. She left the secret service in 2005.
