EMotion: Fisker-Elektroauto is supposed to load electricity for 200 km in 9 minutes

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 | Gadgets

In January 2018, the car manufacturer Fisker plans to present its electric car Fisker-EMotion at CES.
The coverage of around 640 kilometers sounds utopian. Also the promise that the rechargeable battery in 9 minutes can be recharged for 200 km, seems far fetched. It is a new battery, the manufacturer of the website The Street, without giving meaningful technical details. The vehicle is to use a graph battery technology.

The company claims that its graphene technology allows a longer range, faster charging times and a higher battery life. However, the technique has not yet been viewed independently. The battery was developed by Fisker Nanotech, a joint venture between Fisker and Nanotech Energy. This is a spin-off from the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), which is to market the energy storage developed by Richard Kaner and Maher El-Kady.

The EMotion, which is modeled on a sports car, is also to be equipped with a lidar and with autonomous driving functions (Level 4), which are still under development by Fiskers. It is therefore unclear whether the functions can be offered in 2019. From 2019 the EMotion will be delivered.

At the price Fisker competes with the model S of Tesla. The emotion will cost from 130,000 US dollars, a more favorable model is to follow in 2020 and with 34,000 US dollar list price to the Model 3 competition.
If you want, you can already pay 2,000 US dollars for reserving an emotion. The planned appearance falls in the same period in which other established brands such as Audi and Mercedes-Benz also want to market their first electric cars with long-distance-driveable performance on the market.
Fisker had gone into insolvency in November 2013. In February 2014, the Chinese Wanxiang Group bought the company, but not the brand Fisker. With the new company and the new electric car, the autodesigner Henrik Fisker, who worked for BMW and Aston Martin, wants to once again start.
