Dara Khosrowshahi: Boss to be a new boss

Tuesday, August 29th, 2017 | Gadgets

Overdue search for a new CEO is over. Both the New York Times and Recode report that the ridesharing company has now selected Dara Khosrowshahi as the new chief. Allegedly, Uber wants to communicate the decision to its employees and then to the public.

If the rumors are correct, Uber had the choice between three candidates: the former GE CEO Jeff Immelt, HP CEO Meg Whitman and Khosrowshahi. The two former refused. The new boss faces enormous challenges. First of all, Uber's corporate culture must be changed, on the other hand it must become more profitable.
The ex-Uber boss, Travis Kalanick, had resigned from his post in mid-June 2017. He remains the seat of the Supervisory Board. Kalanick did not leave completely voluntarily. Five investors had demanded his resignation. Over the past few weeks and months, several key executives, such as its Finance Director, the Marketing Board, and the Technical Director, as well as the PR Manager, have lost. After an investigation into the conditions at Uber, 20 employees had already been dismissed, others were warned or had to attend training courses.

A software developer had complained about the internal states at the beginning of 2017. The company then initiated an investigation into the incidents. The investigation commission, led by former US Justice Minister Eric Holder, presented its report in mid-June 2017, which examined 215 complaints about discrimination, sexual harassment, unprofessional behavior or bullying.
