(cafetheology.org) – The Grand Prix of Japan will continue to be held on the Twin Ring Motegi in the future. As promoter Dorna announced, the contract with the route operator was extended by another five years. The MotoGP will be driven to Motegi by the end of 2023. A return to Suzuka was not a question for reasons of stretch safety. Since 2004, the Grand Prix of Japan is held continuously in Motegi. But already between 2000 and 2003 was driven on this route. Since the GP of Japan was carried out in Suzuka at that time, Motegi was then known as the Pacific Grand Prix. The first race was held there in 1999 when Suzuka was not on the calendar. The new contract runs from 2019 to 2023. Thus, the first year of the new term will also be the 20th anniversary. The route is owned by Honda and is operated by Mobilityland Corporation. It was built in 1997 and is also the important home race for Yamaha and Suzuki.
