A little flatter than the A-Class, fewer edges, more contrasts, a display as a radiator grille: Mercedes presents a study for the upcoming compact electric class at the International Automobile Exhibition in Frankfurt.

The concept EQA is Mercedes' vision of electric cars in the compact segment until 2020, says Jan Schreiter, product manager at Mercedes, in conversation with Golem.de. A series model based on this concept is to be launched in 2020.
Since car has all-wheel drive
The car has an all-wheel drive, which is converted by a motor on each axle. Different driving modes make it possible to distribute the driving force between the two axles. This is to enable different driving characteristics.

In which mode the car is on the road can also see outsiders. A display that replaces the radiator grille shows the modes. Currently, two are implemented: The Sport mode of operation symbolizes a horizontal, blue wing, the Sport plus mode a red Panamericana grill.
The range should be at 400 kilometers
The two engines have a combined output of 200 kilowatts. The maximum torque is over 500 Newtonmeter. The car will accelerate from 100 kilometers per hour in about five seconds. With power, the motors are powered by a battery with a capacity of over 60 kilowatt hours. The range should be over 400 kilometers.

Can be loaded by cable or wireless. With a quick-charging system, it should be possible to charge electricity in less than ten minutes for 100 kilometers. "That means a short stopover at the resting place will be sufficient to drive another 100 kilometers," says Schreiter.
EQ is Daimler's brand for electromobility
EQ is the brand under which Daimler intends to offer electric cars, as well as accessories for electromobility. These include, for example, charging devices or wall jacks for home use. According to Daimler, the name stands for Electric Intelligence. The Group had presented the EQ brand a year ago.

Shortly thereafter, Daimler presented the first EQ-series car on the Parisian Automesse with the generation EQ. The SUV will be built in Bremen in 2019.
