Car driver dies in collision with ICE in Bönen

On Friday evening around 7 pm an ICE and a car crash. The car is thrown 20 meters wide, an inmate dies. The track is blocked.

In the collision at a railway crossing near Bönen on the border to the Ruhr area, the initial findings indicate that some 250 train passengers were not injured, police said. At first, there was no evidence that more people could have sat in the car.

The route was blocked in the evening between the railway stations Hagen and Hamm in Westphalia. The trains were redirected. The WDR had first reported on this. At the accident site, the railway crossing had been secured with a semi-barrier and a flashing light. Whether there were problems with the barrier and what the cause of the accident was, is still completely unclear, said the spokesman of the police.
