Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017 | World News

In California, a woman with cancer was assigned $ 417 million (€ 353 million). A Los Angeles court ruled in a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson.

In her application, the Californian woman had accused the pharmacist of not having adequately informed consumers about possible cancer risks when using his talcum powder.

Her lawyer, Mark Robinson, said that his client had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer for several years, and was dying. Their wish was that Johnson & Johnson adequately hinted at the cancer risk. This has not happened so far.

The baby powder was used by the Californian for several decades. According to her opinion, there is a cancer risk when the powder is used regularly for years for women's hygiene.

Already several times similar cases
Johnson & Johnson announced an appeal and said the baby powder offered for decades on the market is scientifically safe. However, the Group has already been repeatedly condemned to a million payments due to the powder; Most recently in May in St. Louis to $ 110.5 million to a woman in whom ovarian carcinoma occurred in 2012.

In 2016, similar decisions were made in three other lawsuits in St. Louis – a total of 197 million dollars. Johnson & Johnson spokeswoman Carol Goodrich said the company is preparing for further lawsuits.
