Bundeswehr: generals use illicit flightability

Friday, September 15th, 2017 | World News

Bundeswehr generals have apparently illegally used air service for business trips. For this, they resorted to a simple trick.

As reported by the Funke Media Group newspaper, calling for internal e-mails of flightability, these flights were marked as training and training flights for the pilots to avoid the Ministry of Defense responsible for the approvals.

The government machines are available to the so-called political and parliamentary sectors, for example the Federal President and members of the Federal Government. Generals of the German Armed Forces do not belong to the eligible persons.

  22 incidents since August 2015
At the request of the Spark newspapers, the Ministry of Defense listed a total of 22 training and development flights between August 2015 and July 2017, with generals on board. A ministry spokeswoman is quoted with the statement that, in the case of training and further training flights, "the possibility of the officially arranged flight of Bundeswehr members (for example during business travel)" is fundamentally within the scope of free capacity.

However, there are documents for the papers, according to which it was partly planned differently: generals had planned business trips for which "training flights" were then applied for.
