According to the fire brigade, at least 25 people died in a fire in an Islamic school on the outskirts of Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur. Among them are 22 boys between the ages of 13 and 17 and two teachers.

14 other students and four teachers had been saved, the fire brigade said. Six of them were in critical condition in the hospital. The fire broke out on the top floor of the three-storey house on Thursday morning. An hour later, the fire brigade had been summoned, who then extinguished the fire, said the policeman.

The victims were probably suffocated, their bodies had been burned. According to the findings of the fire brigade, the flames developed after a short circuit in a bedroom. The boy had the only entrance and exit blocked because the windows were grated. According to the authorities, the corpses had been discovered one on top of the other, which is why it was assumed that masses of people were coming into mass.
