Aston Martin: James Bond is driving soon hybrid

Tuesday, August 29th, 2017 | Gadgets

Aston Martin is planning a future as a hybrid manufacturer. According to data provided by company owner Andy Palmer, the luxury vehicles of the British manufacturer are to be offered exclusively as hybrid cars from 2025 onwards. Palmer told the Financial Times that he expected that in 2030, 25 percent of his vehicle sales were pure electric cars.

At the beginning of the summer, Volvo announced that it would launch new models with an electric motor from 2019 onwards. As with Aston Martin, however, this does not mean a quick departure from the internal combustion engine, but only the hybridization.
Aston Martin, however, is more honest. There will also be a purely electric, four-seater sport car of the brand, which is called RapidE and 2019 on the market. The car, however, will be a special version, which is built only 115 times. As with Volvo, the vast majority of future vehicles will be Mildhybrids. In this vehicle group, the electric motor is not able to drive the vehicle itself but acts as a support, for example in the case of stop-start systems.
Palmer told the Financial Times that Aston Martin would develop electrical engineering internally and not to be supported by his partner Mercedes Benz. Mercedes currently delivers a V8 engine to Aston Martin. Batteries are of course purchased.
