(cafetheology.org) – A new opportunity for Alex De Angelis: The ex-MotoGP driver will make his comeback in the Motorbike World Championship at Silverstone at the upcoming race weekend and join as a Moto2 driver for the injured Xavier Simeon. The Belgian in the service of the Tasca Racing team has to fit at the Great Britain's Grand Prix after falling down in the first corner in Spielberg just two weeks ago, and the right humerus broke. The Angelis was last year 2015 on a ART in the MotoGP on the road. Then the 33-year-old changed into the Superbike World Championship. In his first season he scored a podium with the Aprilia of the Ioda Racing team. This season he went for Pedercini-Kawasaki but could only score 32 points in 16 races and lost his job recently. Because from the end of the racing weekend at the Lausitzring, Riccardo Russo sits for him. From 1999 to 2015 De Angelis competed in the Motorbike World Championship 262 GP starts and stood in this time a total of 40 times on the podium. In 2003, he became vice-world champion with Aprilia in the then 125-year class. He did not finish his last MotoGP season 2015 after a major crash at the Japan Grand Prix. As a result of a traumatic brain injury, the Italian had even had to be put into an artificial coma for a short time. However, De Angelis was not able to build on old successes. He is very happy about the chance to compete again in the World Motorcycle World Championship: "It's nice to return to Moto2 with a team I know from the past and with whom I am friendly." In the 2014 season, De Angelis had already given 10 races to Tasca Racing, then on a Suter. "The weekend will surely be very emotional, as I had to take off a helicopter during my last race," the ex-moto pilot remembers Accident. He hopes to be able to recommend his guest starter: "This opportunity is just right, because I am looking for solutions for my future, so I hope that this race will be a good business card for next season, even if it will not be easy .
