A mountain guide had discovered the already heavily mummified corpse at Alpeiner Ferner in the district of Innsbruck-Land, according to the Austrian news agency APA.

According to the investigators, a German climber was lost in 1974 in the area. An autopsy is now to clarify whether it is actually the then 36-year-old.
